Vision of the Network
The Mediterranean Network for Μusic (MedNet4Music) aims to be the largest Network within the Mediterranean region supporting, advocating and promoting innovation in the field of Mediterranean Music. We do this in order to benefit society on a national and international scale. Over this, we will build on the Mediterranean long tradition while promoting the development of a culture in which innovation and academic freedom plays an important role.
Mission of the Network
The Mediterranean Network for Μusic focuses on the advancement of Higher Music Education. Its mission is to provide partnership-building, support and information among partnership institutions mainly, through summer schools in the Mediterranean area.
Activities and events take place within the wide general public domain through concerts, festivals, master classes and community outreach but also within more specialized forums such as lectures, publications, CD and DVD productions, symposiums and conferences.
Aims and Objectives of the Network
The MedNet4Music particularly focuses on Music Performance, Composition, Music Education, Technology and Research, as well as interdisciplinary fields.
It is committed to documenting, preserving, disseminating and advancing music activities of all facets and spectrums that represent the richness and complexity of the Mediterranean musical landscape.
It is dedicated to identifying, sharing and preserving Mediterranean music of all aesthetics, genres and idioms with a strong focus and emphasis on classical, traditional and ethnic music.
It is very active in promoting artistic exchange of experiences and ideas with other regions.
Ιt aims to promote mobility among students and teachers and give opportunities to participants for future collaboration with the partner institutions.
It contributes effectively to the Mediterranean tradition while increasing its impact on society.
